2009 Australian pipeline convention – a dynamic approach

The APIA Convention and Exhibition is the forum that brings the Australian pipeline industry together to discuss issues that are critical to the industry’s future.

Australia’s pipeline industry is pro-active and always considering how best to provide for the future. So it is only natural that the title of the 2009 Annual Convention should embrace this dynamism!

The 2009 Convention will continue the tradition of bringing together those involved in the pipeline industry, both nationally and internationally, onshore and offshore, and across the range of industry sectors.

Over two days, the business program will contain presentations covering: new developments, major projects, climate change, safety, technical integrity and international developments. The social program, another highlight of the pipeline industry, will provide informative and entertaining tours for delegates’ partners, as well as the traditional four very different dinners over four very different evenings. These events provide an opportunity to meet new people and develop business networks in a convivial atmosphere.

One of the most successful features of the Convention is the Exhibition and the access this provides to companies wanting to demonstrate their products to the industry. The exhibition space allows for networking, formal and informal functions, as well as some very good coffee to get the day started.

This industry’s dynamism has also been demonstrated through its successful encouragement of the younger members to participate in events and learn from the more experienced members. We expect more younger pipeliners than ever will attend this year’s convention. With a 35 per cent discount for younger first-timers, there is certainly plenty of encouragement.

APIA’s Annual Convention and Exhibition is one of the most important events in the Australian energy industry’s calendar, with high-quality papers and interesting social events.
