AGL has regained its AGL ticker code on the ASX.
The move back to its historic code is a major move for the energy company, which was originally listed on the Sydney Stock Exchange as The Australian Gas Light Company under the AGL ticker code in 1871.
However it changed to AGK following the company's demerger transaction in 2006.
Speaking on the move back to its original ticker code, AGL CEO Michael Fraser declared it an 'historic moment' to become 'AGL' on the stock exchange once more.
"AGL has changed beyond recognition over the past 177 years as it has adapted to the many changes in technologies and community needs over that time," Fraser said.
"So it is very satisfying that some things can remain the same."
ASX managing director Elmer Funke Kupper added the "AS is pleased to confirm the return of the 'AGL' ticker code".
"The company has traded on the exchange for over 140 years; we are delighted we can play our part in returning the AGL ticker to its historic home."
The change will occur on November 24, with the change extending to its AGL Energy Subordinated Notes, which will trade as AGLHA from that date too.
