Apache and KUFPEC sign on to supply Wheatstone with gas

Under the agreement, Apache and KUFPEC will source gas from their Jumilar and Brunello fields, located on the North West Shelf, to supply 25 per cent of the inlet gas to trains 1 and 2 of the Wheatstone project. Apache will gain a 16.25 per cent equity interest in the project, while KUFPEC will assume an 8.75 per cent interest.

Chevron Asia Pacific President Jim Blackwell said “Bringing in Apache and KUFPEC is intended to help us grow a Wheatstone LNG hub to process both Chevron and third-party gas.

“We anticipate that both Chevron equity gas and third-party gas will be available for further expansion trains now that the foundation project is in place.”?

Woodside Petroleum was the alternative company considered to provide gas to Wheatstone. However, the company said that it would continue with plans for an expansion of the Pluto LNG Project despite not being awarded the contract.
