Strike prepares to drill West Erregulla well

Strike Energy has reported that Rig 970 has been mobilised and is ready to begin drilling at the West Erregulla 3 well in Western Australia.

The EP469 joint venture (Strike, Warrego Energy) is planning to drill up to three wells in the West Erregulla field, with the appraisal wells to be drilled down to 5000m.

Strike highlighted that the West Erregulla 3 well is  designed to test the continuation of the commercial gas accumulation in the northern fault block, and West Erregulla 4 and 5 to appraise the reservoir distribution in the central fault block.

The JV reported that after various coring and logging operations all three wells will be flow tested and completed as future producers across the Kingia/High Cliff sequences for the proposed Phase 1 production operations.

In addition, the Wagina gas discovery made in West Erregulla-2 will be appraised during the West Erregulla 4 and 5 wells.

In June, the JV agreed to a long-term contract with Ensign Energy Services for drilling services at the Perth Basin project with the Ensign 970 rig.

Strike reported that the conductor had been installed at the project, with the lease pad ready to receive the first loads for the drilling rig as it mobilised.

Upgrades were also completed on the Ensign 970 drilling rig and a pre-departure inspection was also carried out on the equipment.
