Envestra expands NSW gas assets

Country Energy’s gas networks comprise 1,160 km of gas distribution pipeline and 65 km of transmission pipeline in the towns of Wagga Wagga, Tumut, Adelong, Gundagai, Culcairn, Holbrook, Henty, Temora, Walla Walla, Bombala and Cooma, delivering approximately 3 petajoules per annum to 26,000 customers.

The Wagga Wagga network is the only one that is regulated by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). The revenue-setting mechanism for non-regulated towns mirrors the AER methodology used in the regulated network.

APA Asset Management will operate the gas distribution and transmission assets on behalf of Envestra, consistent with Envestra’s existing operating and management arrangements.

The transaction is expected to be complete by Friday 29 October 2010.

Country Energy is a New South Wales Government-owned corporation.
