The year ending 30 June 2010 saw a 3.3 per cent increase in residential customers and 2 per cent increase in non-residential customers over the 2008-09 financial year.
There was a 39.4 per cent increase on the number of customers on an instalment payment plan over the 2009-10 financial year, bringing the statewide total to 1.7 per cent of residential and 0.5 per cent of non-residential customers.
The number of residential disconnections for non-payment increased by 2.5 per cent as compared to the 2008-09 year to 17,232.
The only natural gas retailers to report reconnecting residential or non-residential customers within seven days of disconnection during the 2009-10 financial year were Alinta Sales and WorleyParsons.
The statewide residential reconnection rate during 2009-10 was 1.82 per cent, significantly higher than in South Australia’s 0.52 per cent and Victoria’s 0.35 per cent reconnection rate.
