Galilee Energy takes step to unlock Glenaras reserve

Galilee Energy has reported a strong performance at its Glenarras multi-lateral pilot program in the Galilee Basin, Queensland.

The program is demonstrating “excellent water rates” given the early stage of pressure drawdown, with five wells flowing at water rates in excess of 4200 barrels of water a day in aggregate.

This is approximately twice the water rate achieved when compared to the same stage of pressure drawdown for the previous pilot configuration of Glenaras 10 litres and 12 litres.

Galilee Energy managing director Peter Lansom said the results are very encouraging.

“The strong productivity of all wells, combined with the direct communication between each of the wells, provides evidence that this enhanced pilot design should enable the reservoir shielding necessary to achieve the pilot objectives,” he said.

Three months of production drawdown will still be required for material gas production rates to be observed.

Galilee said further operational updates will be provided to the market throughout this period.

The Glenaras gas project is contained within ATP 2019 in the western portion of the Galilee Basin in central Queensland.

This permit was identified as a desirable spot for coal seam gas within the Basin and has seen considerable exploration activity over the past 15 years.

Current activity at the project involves the enhanced five-well multi-lateral pilot, which is designed to drawdown the coal below critical desorption and produce commercial gas flow rates.

This is the final step in converting the resources of the Glenaras project into a maiden proved and probable reserve position.
