Summarising the six months to April 2009, ABARE’s report shows that investment interest is strong throughout Australia in natural gas and coal seam gas-fired generation, accounting for 68 per cent of electricity generation projects.

The report also states that gas-fired power has increased by a total capacity of 1,570 MW from six new projects, in the six months since October 2008: the Kwinana Power Station, the Newman Power Station expansion, the Quarantine Power Station expansion, the Tallawarra Stage 1, the Uranquinty Power Station and the Weddell Stage 2.
