Gas strong throughout Australia

ABARE Executive Director Phillip Glyde said “Western Australia continues to account for the largest share of capital expenditure, reflecting the capital intensive nature of oil and gas projects.”?

Summarising the six months to April 2009, ABARE’s report shows that investment interest is strong throughout Australia in natural gas and coal seam gas-fired generation, accounting for 68 per cent of electricity generation projects.

The report also states that gas-fired power has increased by a total capacity of 1,570 MW from six new projects, in the six months since October 2008: the Kwinana Power Station, the Newman Power Station expansion, the Quarantine Power Station expansion, the Tallawarra Stage 1, the Uranquinty Power Station and the Weddell Stage 2.
