Phase II construction on Bolivian pipeline set to commence

Construction has commenced on the second section of the Gasoducto Cochabamba Carrasco (GCC). IST-Serpetbol-Conpropet, the company constructing the 78 km 16 inch diameter section, has started its mobilisation to set up camp and equipment. The 251 km, 16 inch diameter GCC consists of three sections.

Petrofac to develop Algeria’s In Salah gas fields

Petrofac has signed an agreement with In Salah Gas to develop four gas fields in southern Algeria’s In Salah region. ISG is a consortium of Algeria’s state-owned company Sonatrach, BP and Statoil. Under the agreement, Petrofac will develop four gas fields in southern Algeria and will also be in charge of constructing infrastructures and sites accommodation before 2015.

Gas flows from Beta West

Statoil has commenced delivering gas from its Beta West field to its Sleipner B platform, located in the Sleipner area of the North Sea. The Beta West field was discovered in 2009 and is estimated to contain 80 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe), which will boost output from Sleipner B by about 15,000 boe per day and extend its producing life.

New gas-fired power station for Abu Dhabi

Siemens Energy and Daewoo Engineering & Construction have been awarded a contract to construct a 1,600 MW gas-fired power station in Abu Dhabi. The Shuweihat S3 plant is being constructed on behalf of a consortium comprising the Japanese Sumitomo Corporation, the Korea Electric Power Corporation and the local utility Abu Dhabi Electricity & Water Authority and will provide power to Abu Dhabi as well as the near Ruwais refinery. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2014.

SOC opens bids for Iraq pipeline tender

South Oil Company of Iraq (SOC) has invited bids for an engineering, procurement and construction contract for its, 18 inch diameter 105 km gas pipeline, which will export gas from the Zubair field in southern Iraq. The onshore pipeline will transport 100 million cubic feet of gas per day of gas from the Zubair depot to the Fao depot, north of the Arabian Gulf.

BP signs CSG production sharing contracts

BP has signed four new coal seam gas production sharing contracts (CSG PSCs) in the Barito basin of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. BP and co-owner Pertamina were jointly awarded the Tanjung IV CSG PSC through a direct award from the Government of Indonesia, while BP and co-owner PT Sugico Graha (Sugico) were jointly awarded the Kapuas I, II and III CSG PSCs through a direct offer from the Government of Indonesia.
