Longtom reserves exceed expectations

Incorporating results from Nexus‘ Longtom-4 and Garfish wells, petroleum consultant Gaffney, Cline and Associates (GCA) has increased proved reserves for the Longtom field from 173 petrojoules (PJ) to 282 PJ. The consultant has also estimated that up to 2.8 million barrels of proved condensate reserves are in the field.

The reserves increase is the result of higher gas-in-place estimates following the re-mapping of reservoirs, the incorporation of improved reservoir properties encountered in sands within the Longtom-4 well, and plans to drill a third development well in the field.

GCA has also estimated contingent resources for the Longtom field of up to 71 PJ of gas.

Production of gas from the Longtom field recently commenced through Santos‘ Patricia-Baleen facilities near Orbost, in Victoria. Gas is delivered approximately 17 km via tieback pipelines into existing infrastructure connecting the Patricia-Baleen fields to the onshore plant.
