McConnell Dowell strengthens Asian portfolio

McConnell Dowell has secured a contract in Thailand for civil works on the Thai Oil clean fuel project in Sriracha.

Awarded by UJV, the joint venture between Petrofac, Saipem and Samsung Engineering, the project will transform the existing oil refinery into an environmental-friendly facility that will produce higher quality transportation duels.

McConnell Dowell’s scope includes earthworks and civil works in both greenfield and brownfield areas to support the overall project off improvement and expansion of the facility, including new processing units, all required utilities and support facilities.

Managing director for South East Asia, Tom Dockray, said the project would allow the company to further develop and grow its exisiting relationship with not only Thai Oil, but the joint venture partners.

“This project represents an excellent opportunity for McConnell Dowell to build and enhance our specialist capability in Thailand and strengthen our presence in Sriracha with the recent securing of the pump station package for Thai Oil,” Dockray said.

Works have commenced on site and are scheduled to be completed in 2021, the overall project will be in construction until 2023.

In addition, McConnell Dowell has also revamped its regional head office in Chai Chee, Singapore, which is a central hub for the South East Asia business unit for the company.
