MMA Offshore has secured contract extensions with Woodside for two of its vessels that will now operate at the North West Shelf (NWS) offshore Western Australia until March 2022.
As part of the existing agreement, the Mermaid Sound and the Mermaid Strait vessels are contracted to provide support services for Woodside-operated production assets in the North West Shelf (NWS).
Under the terms of the extension, the Mermaid Sound will be replaced by the Mermaid Cove (effective from last Thursday), while the firm period of both contracts will be extended through to March 2022.
MMA managing director David Ross said: “This gives us greater certainty in our forward contract book in the current environment. Woodside have been a very significant long-term client for MMA and we look forward to continuing to support their operations safely and efficiently.”
Mermaid Strait, a diesel electric propulsion, 69-tonne bollard pull vessel, is one of MMA’s strongest performing AHT vessels in the fleet.
The vessel has been on continuous hire since its delivery to Woodside in 2012, providing floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) offtake support services on the NWS of Western Australia.
In addition, the Mermaid Cove, which is replacing the Mermaid Sound, is a diesel electric propulsion, 70.3-tonne bollard pull the vessel, that has been on continuous hire since its delivery in 2013 to BHP.
The vessel has since been providing FPSO offtake support services on the NWS and Carnarvon Basin in Western Australia.
