Monadelphous secures $600m contract at Woodside’s LNG operations

Monadelphous has won more work in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, with Woodside Petroleum awarding the engineering company a $600 million contract to provide maintenance services and brownfields offshore implementation across its Western Australian gas production facilities.

The contract, which is for an initial five-year period with a further two one-year extension options, includes maintenance, shutdown services and offshore brownfields implementation at Woodside’s Karratha Gas Plant, Pluto LNG, North Rankin Complex, Goodwyn A platform and Angel platform.

Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri described the contract as a significant strategic award, further demonstrating the leadership position of the company in the provision of onshore and offshore maintenance services for gas production facilities in Australia.

“We have a long history of delivering on our promise to customers, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety, and implementing innovative solutions that deliver continual improvements in productivity,” he said.

“It’s pleasing to see our work in these areas recognised by Woodside with the award of a new, expanded contract which includes a significant portion of their offshore gas production facilities in the northwest of WA, in addition to the onshore maintenance services we currently provide.”

Monadelphous has worked with Woodside since 2002 and at the Karratha Gas Plant and Pluto LNG Plant since 2012, performing shutdown and maintenance services.

The company announced earlier this month that it had secured new contracts and additional work worth a combined $125 million.

This work included a subcontract for structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation work for Kawasaki Heavy Industries on the cryogenic tanks at the Ichthys project’s onshore LNG facilities in Darwin.

Monadelphous was also awarded a long-term maintenance services contract at the INPEX operation in May. That contract is for an initial six-year period, but has the option to be extended for an additional two years.
