Gladstone LNG

Santos has said that all regulatory conditions have been satisfied for the Gladstone LNG Project, including confirmation from the Foreign Investment Board, approving the company’s partnership with Petronas.

As part of the transaction Petronas will become a 40 percent partner in the development, operation and marketing of the project.

Curtis LNG

The proposed Queensland Curtis LNG Project, located near Gladstone, has contracted Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals as project contractor.

BG Group Executive Vice President of the Americas and Global LNG Martin Houston and QGC Managing Director Richard Cottee welcomed Bechtel’s involvement. The company has built about one-third of all LNG production capacity worldwide.

“Bechtel also constructed the Darwin LNG plant, giving it a tremendous local experience base from which to embark on this project and we are delighted to award it a committed role in our Queensland LNG project,”? Mr Houston said.

LNG processing hub sites identified

The Federal and West Australian governments have identified nine possible sites for a common-user LNG processing hub to serve the Browse Basin.

The Northern Development Taskforce (NDT) interim report lists Gourdon Bay, Quondong Point, James Price Point, North Head, Perpendicular Head, Packer Island, Koolan Island, Wilson Point, and the Maret Islands as “locations worthy of further technical investigation and assessment related to Aboriginal heritage and cultural values and environmental constraints.”?

The sites are to be reviewed by the Kimberley Land Council’s Traditional Owner Taskforce. A decision on a shortlist of possible sites for the common-user hub is expected in early August.

Nexus eyes LNG

Nexus Energy plans to set aside $1 billion for exploration over the next three years in order to sure up enough gas for a potential LNG development.

The company will focus on exploration activity in its Crux field, located in exploration permit AC/P23 in the offshore Browse Basin, and has said it will call for tenders for topside modules and submit a development plan for the project in the third quarter of this year.
