QGC prepares to spud second CSG well in Surat program

Wire line logs and drill seam tests have been carried out over four zones of interest in the cored sequence.

The coring rig has been released from the Peebs-1 location and is being prepared to be moved to the next drill location in ATP 574P – the Pinelands-4 well.

Peebs-1 is the first well to be drilled by QGC in ATP 574P in 2009, and is the first of three core holes planned for the current drilling program.

QGC’s drilling program in the permit aims to prove up an initial certifiable gross recoverable CSG reserves by the end of the second quarter of 2010. The Walloon coal measures in the permit are interpreted to have a potential CSG resource in place of up to 1,500 petajoules of gas.

ATP 574P is a joint venture between QGC and Victoria Petroleum.
