Queensland Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Andrew Cripps has said the land released in six areas could deliver strong economic benefits for the state and potentially create tens of thousands of jobs.
“It is vital we continue to have ongoing exploration as we still have large potential resources in the ground,”? Mr Cripps said.
“Any discoveries made during exploration have the potential to generate wealth and create jobs for Queenslanders, particularly in the regions.”?
The areas subject to the tender are located in the Carpentaria, Georgina, Cooper-Eromanga and Eromanga basins.
Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) Chief Operating Officer Eastern Australia Paul Fennelly said “The Queensland Government continues to establish plans that will allow the next generation of the state’s resources to be developed.
“It clearly recognises that petroleum and gas production is underpinned by exploration that can potentially attract further investment, generate prosperity and create jobs.”?
Tenders close at 4.30pm Monday 29 September 2014.
