Real Energy to venture into hydrogen market

Real Energy has established Pure Hydrogen, a subsidiary that will undertake a detailed study to assess the commercial viability of building, owning and operating a hydrogen fuel plant in Queensland.

Since assessing the opportunities for hydrogen in the federal government’s 2019 National Hydrogen strategy, Real Energy has earmarked two potential sites in Queensland.

Real Energy is proposing to establish a large-scale hydrogen fuel plant with annual production capacity of at least 36 million kilograms.

The project sites under review are in the Surat Basin, adjacent to Real Energy’s 50 per cent owned Venus CSG project.

An experienced consulting firm and team established by Pure Hydrogen will undertake the study.
