Reserves double for APLNG

APLNG’s 2P reserves are now estimated to be 7,265 PJ while 3P reserves are estimated at 12, 627 PJ. The increase in 2P reserves makes APLNG the largest holder of CSG reserves in Australia and with an annual production of 60 PJ , the joint venture produces around one third of all Australia’s CSG.

APLNG joint venture partner Origin Energy managing director Grant King (pictured) highlighted the significant increase in APLNG’s CSG reserves as “an important milestone in supporting a final investment decision for Australian Pacific LNG’s CSG to LNG project in late 2010.”?

Origin also acquired CSG reserves and resources next to the proven field in Undulla Nose in April 2009. This transaction is expected to add more than 1,000 PJ of 3P reserves and increase the flexibility of Origin’s domestic operations.

APLNG is a joint venture between Origin and ConocoPhillips. Origin and ConocoPhillips plan to develop a four train CSG to LNG project utilising Origin’s Queensland CSG reserves and resources.
