Santos awards KBR GLNG efficiency study contract

Santos has contracted KBR to undertake an energy efficiency opportunities study at its Gladstone liquified natural gas (GLNG) project in Queensland.

The study will explore opportunities to improve the overall energy efficiency of the plant and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with the GLNG liquefaction facility.

KBR has reported that it will assist GLNG in identifying and screening potential modifications to enhance the operational facility thorough improvements of thermal efficiency, while also accounting for the associated reduction in carbon emissions.

Jay Ibrahim, KBR president for energy solutions,  said the project would leverage the specialist energy, decarbonisation and skills of the company’s strategic and advisory team.

The joint venture project between Santos, PETRONAS and KOGAS is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant that converts coal seam gas (CSG) into LNG.
