Santos has made a commitment to Adelaide and South Australian jobs, confirming it has added more than 300 positions to the company over the past two years.

In December 2019, managing director and chief executive officer Kevin Gallagher told investors that Santos would keep its corporate centre and new midstream and energy solutions business in South Australia.

He further announced that the company would centre its offshore upstream operations in Perth and onshore operations in Brisbane, with Moomba employees and contractors who live in South Australia continuing to be based there.

The company plans to move positions currently based in Adelaide to Brisbane, while others will move from Perth and Brisbane to Adelaide.

Reassuring there would be no job reductions for Santos in Adelaide and South Australian, Gallagher said the changes would occur over the next 12-18 months.

Gallagher said, “our people are very important to us” and the company was working closely with its employees to implement these changes.

“Santos is now a growing business with exciting growth projects in oil and natural gas all around Australia, and new business opportunities in infrastructure management, renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage, and investigation of hydrogen opportunities,” Gallagher said.

“Adelaide is our home and corporate centre, and we will be creating new, secure, high-skilled, well-paying jobs in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Darwin and regional Australia for many years to come.”
