Senex Energy will continue to supply natural gas to CleanCo Queensland in 2022 following the two companies signing a domestic gas sales agreement.
The one-year agreement, which starts on January 1, 2020, will see Senex supply 2.55 petajoules (PJ) of natural gas to CleanCo, brining its total contracted volumes to more than 5.1 PJ over the 2020-22 calendar years.
Gas will be supplied at the Wallumbilla gas hub in Queensland at a fixed price in line with current market levels.
CleanCo is the Queensland government-owned corporation focused on delivering affordable and reliable clean energy.
Senex-produced natural gas fuels Swanbank E, CleanCo’s 385 megawatt gas-fired power station near Ipswich, which plays a key role in ensuring the ongoing reliability and stability of Queensland’s electricity network and allows CleanCo to offer low-emissions, reliable power to customers.
Senex managing director and chief executive officer Ian Davies commented: “The strong ongoing relationship between Senex and CleanCo contributes to security of power supply that helps the recovery of the Queensland and Australian economies.
“Senex will continue to build a portfolio of gas sales agreements that support jobs and regional economies as we partner with commercial and industrial customers for long-term and mutually beneficial relationships.”
