Sole repairs complete

In November last year, project operator Cooper Energy reported a wall thickness opening in the 65 km pipeline had been discovered during pressure tests, preventing the pipeline from holding internal pressure.

Cooper has now reported the repair and testing works on the pipeline had been completed, with the pipeline now successfully connecting the production wells in the Sole field to the Orbost Gas Plant.

APA Group is currently completing the project’s onshore operations to upgrade the gas plant to process gas from Sole, and Cooper said it was anticipated the facility would be ready in the September quarter of this year.

Located in the Gippsland Basin, the Sole gas field is being developed to supply approximately 24 PJ/year to the market, with more than 75 per cent of its reserves already contracted to a range of utility and industrial customers.
