Strike prepares for WE3 clean-up flows

West Erregulla

Strike Energy has completed flow testing at the West Erregulla 3 (WE3)  site, located in the northern area of the West Erregulla gas field in EP469, Western Australia.

On behalf of the joint venture (JV), shared equally with JV partner Warrego Energy, Strike has announced that the testing package for the WE3 well site has been mobilised and has completed rig up and swabbing operations.

Currently the company is conducting four perforations across 40 m of the areas Kingia Sandstone.

Following these activities, Strike will commence clean-up flows before beginning the formal flow period – expected to continue over seven days.

Through these operations, the JV is pursuing a robust understanding of the reservoir. A long build-up period will allow for this understanding of both the reservoir and the connected gas reserves and resources.

The Kingia Sandstone has been observed to consist of blocky, clean sands – indicating conventional reservoir potential. The sandstone was drilled at a total measured depth of 4737 m.

The area also presented elevated readings of mud gas on logging while drilling tools.

The appeal of the Perth Basin is partially due to the fact that it is located close to much of the major energy transition infrastructure in the area, and from there to Western Australia’s major population centre. The Basin is a major hydrogen hub for the state.
