Strike Energy has completed mobilisation of the Ensign 970 drilling rig, which is now ready to commence drilling operations at the South Erregulla-1 (SE1) well.
The company encountered minor delays to the spudding of SE1 while Strike and Ensign mobilised the required personnel into quarantine proper to border closures in Western Australia at the end of 2021.
Preparatory activities for the spud will be carried out in the lead to the commencement of full operations in order to ensure a timely execution of the proposed program.
SE1 is located within Strike’s own EP503.
According to the company, the well has significant resource potential with a high chance of success due to strong data control over the area.
Through seismic interpretation of 3D and 2D seismic data, Strike has interpreted a major structural high to the south of West Erregulla.
“The primary objective of SE1,” the Strike said, “is to delineate approximately 350 PJ of high confidence resource in order to secure the gas requirements for Project Haber, Strike’s proposed Geraldton based 1.4 mtpa urea fertiliser manufacturing facility.”
On confirmation of resources at SE1, Strike will look to sanction further front-end engineering design (FEED) and progress the urea off take process for Project Haber.
