Valmec teams up with Australian Hydrogen Council

Valmec has joined the Australian Hydrogen Council off the back of its expertise in constructing Australia’s largest renewable gas blending project.

The Australian Hydrogen Council is the peak body for the hydrogen industry, with members from across the hydrogen value chain.

Valmec is one of 45 corporate members that make up the council, including: APA Group, BP, Jemena, Origin and Woodside.

The Hydrogen Park South Australia (HyP SA), owned by Australian Gas Network (AGN), awarded Valmec the key project partner contract in July 2019 to construct the onside infrastructure of the project.

Since being awarded the contract, Valmec has completed the construction of the electrolyser shed, the concrete works for the electrolyser shed slab foundation and the stand-alone foundations for the balance of plant supporting packages.

“We are proud to be supporting Australia’s progress towards a society built upon clean and renewable energy technologies,” Valmec stated.

In addition to Valmec joining the council, it also welcomed Foton Bus Australia, Hydro Tasmania, Custom Denning Group and Emerson Australia in the past month.

The council’s objective is to: accelerate commercialisation of new hydrogen and fuel cell technologies; provide a forum for effective communication and collaboration of all stakeholders in the hydrogen and energy community; and progress Australia’s shift towards a future hydrogen society.
