VIDEO: The latest developments at Gorgon and Wheatstone

Gorgon is now more than 90 per cent complete and on schedule for first LNG in the coming months, with a recent milestone being the successful start-up of the first gas turbine generator – a critical element in the gas plant start-up sequence.

The project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (64.14 per cent), Apache Energy (13 per cent), Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company KUFPEC (13.4 per cent) and Kyushu Electric Power Company (1.46 per cent), together with PE Wheatstone Pty Ltd (part owned by Tokyo Electric Power Company, 8 per cent).

In addition, Chevron’s Wheatstone Project is nearly 60 per cent complete, as equipment and modules continue to be delivered and installed at the LNG plant site.

First LNG is expected at the Wheatstone Project in 2016, via a 250 MMcf/d onshore domestic gas plant at Ashburton North, WA.
