Woodside locks in LNG contract with Strandline

Joint venture partners Woodside Energy and EDL LNG Fuel to Power have been awarded a contract to supply liquified natural gas (LNG) to Strandline Resources’ Coburn power generation facilities in Western Australia.

As part of the contract, LNG will be supplied via road train from Woodside’s Pluto LNG truck loading facility near Karratha and provide Strandline with a long-term clean, reliable and affordable solution for Coburn.

The proposed LNG supply contract is over a 10-year term and enables Strandline to capture energy supply cost savings.

Strandline stated that the companies would now compile final contract documentation, subject to approval from Coburn’s leaders and parties.

Managing director Luke Graham said the appointment establishes an important long-term relationship with two industry leader in the energy sector, in Woodside and EDL.

“The company continues to move rapidly towards the development of auburn and these key contract appointments to well-credentialed suppliers provide delivery certainty,” Graham said.

Coburn’s mine site power infrastructure is based on a low-cost, low-emission solution integrating LNG-fuelled generation with solar and battery storage technology.

Woodside’s Pluto LNG truck loading facility at the Pluto LNG project can provide clean and reliable supplies of low-emission LNG for use as fuel in remote power generation and transport in Western Australia.

Pluto LNG processes gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena gas fields in Western Australia, with gas then piped through a 180km trunkline to a single onshore LNG-processing train.

In addition, EDL is a leading global producer of sustainable distracted energy, being a leader in trucked LNG in Western Australia.
