Woodside seeks approvals for Browse LNG plan

The company is seeking approvals for a $20 billion development that would include two floating production storage and offloading installations at the Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa fields and an approximately 900 km pipeline to transport gas to existing North West Shelf infrastructure.

The fields, located approximately 425 km north of Broome in the offshore Browse Basin, are estimated to contain more than 300 billion m3 of dry gas and approximately 390 million barrels of condensate.

In the company’s submission, Woodside said in the event that all relevant approvals and commercial arrangements are finalised, the company anticipated commencement of construction and drilling and completion activities in 2021.

Woodside said the project could be in operation for up to 50 years, beginning at some time in the mid-2020s.

Shell Australia, BP Developments, Japan Australia LNG and PetroChina are all venture partners in the development.
